# Upgrading or downgrading your plan

> An existing Tender Navigator subscriber changes plan from the Subscription page or the Pricing page, which open the Stripe billing portal on a confirmation screen for the target plan. An upgrade takes effect immediately; a downgrade is scheduled for the end of the current billing cycle and shows as Plan change scheduled until then, with a Cancel plan change action.

## Where to change plan

- **Subscription** page in the dashboard: the plan comparison shows **Upgrade** or **Downgrade** on each other plan and **Current plan** on yours.
- **[Pricing page](/pricing)**: the same buttons appear when you are signed in.
- The **Upgrade** button in the dashboard topbar, when a higher plan exists.

## Upgrades

An **Upgrade** opens the Stripe billing portal directly on the confirmation screen for the target plan. Confirm there, and the new plan applies **immediately**: the Subscription page returns, confirms the change ("Plan updated"), and your new active-filter allowance and evaluations are available at once.

## Downgrades

A **Downgrade** opens the same confirmation screen, but the change is **scheduled** for the end of the current billing cycle so that you keep what you paid for. Until then:

- the Subscription page shows a **Plan change scheduled** banner naming the direction and the date;
- the target plan is marked as the next plan in the comparison, and the other buttons are locked;
- **Cancel plan change** in the banner or the comparison releases the schedule after a confirmation.

When the downgrade takes effect, make sure the number of active filters fits the new plan; filters beyond the allowance cannot stay active.

## Changing plan on a cancelled subscription

If your subscription is set to end (**Cancellation scheduled**), the buttons read **Renew to upgrade** and **Renew to downgrade**: Tender Navigator renews the subscription first and then opens the portal for the change, in one click.

## The Stripe portal in general

**Manage billing** on the Subscription page opens the Stripe billing portal without a preselected change. Use it for payment methods and invoices as well; see [Invoices and payment methods](/knowledge-base/invoices-and-payment-methods).

## What does not change

Filters, results, lists and profiles are kept across plan changes. Only the allowances change.
