# Countries and regions covered

> Tender Navigator identifies every country by its ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code and displays the country name. A tender's buyer country is the country of the contracting authority; searches and filters select tenders by buyer country, and the Market Insights page maps live tender volume by country across the 180+ countries the site describes.

## How countries are represented

Tender Navigator keys every country on its **ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code**: DEU for Germany, FRA for France, GBR for the United Kingdom, USA for the United States, CHE for Switzerland. The interface shows the country name; the code appears in a few compact places such as a saved filter's summary ("Search · DEU, FRA") and the filter snapshot on a result.

## Buyer country

A tender's **Buyer country** is the country of the contracting authority that published it, as recorded by the source platform. It is the country a search or a filter selects on. It is not the place of performance, which some notices specify separately in their text.

## Selecting countries

- In the Pre-search tool, **Countries** is optional and empty means any country. Several countries are combined with OR.
- In a filter, **Countries** allows up to 20 countries where the tender must be published, and at least one is required before the filter can be activated.
- On the Results page and inside a list, **Countries** narrows evaluated tenders by buyer country.

## Your account country

The country on your account (chosen at signup, editable on the Account page) is separate from search countries. It does not restrict what you can search or which tenders you receive. It is used for account settings and for deciding whether partner material applies to you.

## Where to see coverage by country

The [Market Insights](/market-insights) page shows a world map of tender volume by country from the live database, the number of countries covered, the most active markets and the industries with the most tenders, with the date the figures were last updated. The homepage carries a one-line strip with the same live figures.
